For a full turnkey service including survey, fabrication & through to installation
When it comes to deciding on what you want your gate to look like you have a number of options to choose from to personalise your gate that will enable you to mix and match aspects to get the look you're after. We've provided a little more detail on each of the options below but if you have any questions or additional special requests don't hesitate to contact us to share your thoughts on what you want your composite gate to look like.
Our metal frames are finished with a zinc undercoat followed by a powder coat finished. Whilst black is by far and away the most popular frame colour with anthracite grey a distant second place, it doesn't mean these are your only options. You may already have certain house or garden features that you want to complement such as existing metal railings which may be a colour other than black or at least have different a different topper colour.
The options below should cover most of the gate frame colours you are likely to select. However, if your have a definite colour in mind simply provide the RAL colour reference and we'll let you know if we can match this colour for you.
The shape of your gate will provide a style and timeframe to your property - especially driveway gates as they will make a bold statement about the overall style of your property.
Most modern properties will opt for a flat horizontal top to their gate which may then be personalised with toppers or screens however, we find that older properties where the house has more quirky features or the garden wall has decorative metal railings may opt for more curvature in their gate.
For both single pedestrian gates and double hinged driveway gates arching the top is still popular. The angle and degree of the arch can also influence the era the gate portrays. As with most of our gate elements we can make this as bespoke as you want. Normally we will build an arch from the edge to the middle of the gate or pair of gates to a specified height difference. i.e. 30 cmWe can also arch from a section of the gate
Whilst many gate tops are simply flat and neat to give a contemporary modern feel you may want to add some traditional or period element to the top of your composite gate. Whilst you keep the benefit of having a modern low maintenance gate you can also add a selection of wrought iron toppers often refered to as finials to your gate. The most popular are rail head options are fleur de lis, ball top and spear top
The beauty of having a metal frame surround it that it provides an excellent platform onto which additional features could be welded on to.
We have provided a small selection of the most popular metal gate toppers but if you have seen a particular design let us know and we'll see if we can find a match or if you want to be even more creative and have your own idea of what you may want as a decorative metal top for your gate simply let us know. This could be your house number - simply sketch something out and sent it to us to review. Then if we have any questions or thoughts on how some simple tweaks may make it work our fabricators will speak to you to get you a gate topper that hits the mark for you.

For wooden fencing and gates many people are familiar with trellises. Typically they are made by fixing strips of wood across each other to form a square or diamond lattice which can either be fitted to the top of a fence or is the full fence.
With composites being manufactured in a different way the trellises, or screens as they are often referred to, are pre moulded in different designs and different colours to complement the composite panels. They can provide an interesting finish to the top of a gate and in some instances customer request them at mid points or even the bottom of a gate to allow some additional visibility beyond the gate without totally exposing what's behind the gate. The range we have shown matches out premium range of composite panels. You can select a different screen colour to the panels as they don't have to match. If a certain combination catches your eye we'll make them to that specification.

The ironmongery will have some differing requirements for a pedestrian gate compared to a set of driveway gates but there will also be some common components that we fit to most of our composite gates.
There will also be differences if you choose an automated gate option too, however as most of our gates are manually operated we install a Locinox swing gate lock as standard. We select this lock due to it's reliability and features such as its aluminium housing and stainless steel mechanism. This provide a long lasting locking system operated by strong decorative black handles.
If you want your house number fitted to your gates, we can do that along with additional handles or extra bolts to allow them to be fixed in the open position.
We can also install letter boxes into your gates which is proving increasingly popular if the main purpose is to limit random access to the front door of your property.

Our experiences over the years has led to us focussing on promoting a small range of composite panel options but one which we find is ample for most customers. We are familiar with the quality, size and workability of these composites and aesthetically they work well too.
They have a wooden style embossing on both sides and are coloured throughout so that if you do have something hit or scratch your gate the damage will be much harder to detect.
There are growing numbers of foil covered plastic or composite panels and whilst they look great when new they are more prone to the effects of wear. A very thin foil layer is applied to the surface of the panel and especially for gates, that are subjected to regular usage the foil outer layer can easily be scratched. If the foil is very different to the lay beneath this will look unsightly and is very difficult to touch up.
Our anthracite grey composite gates dominate, with charcoal and chocolate specified less frequently but all look extremely good.

Most of the options we provide are based on personal preference rather than one option being better than another.
As a result, it all boils down to what look you want to achieve, with the largest part being the composite panels choosing your preferred colour should be your main focus. The only exception to this is if you want your composite gate to provide a little more security. If so, you should avoid a screen and possibly arch your gate and add fleur de les or spiked gate toppers to deter someone from trying to climb over.
No you don't. We offer a bespoke service but we will provide advice if some requests are impractical or have a downside. We may also suggest that you source, bespoke items so at least you have their guarantee for the parts.
No. It's up to you but one way may provide some subtle benefits over the other. Depending on the type and size of your gate if it is longer than the length of a panel then a bracing plate will be required to secure both composite pieces across the joint. Also, one way may require more panels and more wastage so this may incur a slightly higer material cost. But ultimately the choice is yours.
